Projects

Thanks to our original ECHO Grant award in 2008 and the support of our community, the Seville VIA owns the Historic Seville School. We still have lots to do.

SVIA received a legislative initiative and have applied for an additional ECHO Grant along with a CDBG-CV Grant to complete major funding projects at the site to insure it’s viability for years to come.

For more information on ECHO and the projects it helps to fund, visit their site here.

Seville Gymnasium

This beloved gym holds many fond memories of basketball games, Halloween carnivals and more. Built in the 1950’s with community donations this wonderful space has much potential. We hope to add handicap accessible bathrooms, new lighting and repair the beautiful hardwood floors so that we can partner with Volusia County Recreation Department for future activities.

Seville Library

This inviting space is a focal point of the Seville Community Resource Center. Improvements yet to be done are the addition of more computer work stations and the refinishing of the wood floors in the area.

Seville Park House

This historic site served as the early meeting area of SVIA and as a canning kitchen during WWII. Today it is used as a rental site for parties and is home to Seville’s Turkey Shoot. This facility needs interior painting, upgrades to the windows and other enhancements like kitchen appliances and improved ventilation. Volusia County Parks and Recreation has recently upgraded and renovated the Seville Playground to include new swings and a new play park with soft surface flooring.

Seville Museums

Two dedicated spaces showcase the history of Seville and its’ residents along with the former teachers, students and activities of our beloved Seville School. Donations of artifacts and photos have helped capture days gone by but our work is not complete. We are looking to expand our collections and our display presentations. Help us preserve our past and celebrate the hard working men and women that paved the way for us here in Seville.
